Christmas Biscuits
This simple biscuit recipe is great, very simple and dead quick. The basics are here but then you can add your own ingredients to make what ever biscuits you like. I did this last weekend and the preparation only took 20 minutes and the cooking time takes 15.
This is a great idea for Christmas presents to friends, aunties or of course you can just scoff them yourself.
You will need
300g of plain white flour
140g of caster sugar
250g of butter
1 egg yolk
Plus your choice to make the biscuits extra nice, we’ve suggested you can add sultanas, ginger, vanilla, grated cheese, chocolate bits, grated lemon rind but really your can add anything.
Add into a large bowl the butter and sugar and mix together, add the egg yolk and any flavouring, items to the biscuits that you like (sultanas, ginger, vanilla, grated cheese, chocolate bits, grated lemon rind... you get the idea) and briefly beat to combine together. Then add the flour a little at a time and mix together until you get a dough. You may need to do this with your hands to get everything mixed together and ensure that all the dough is pressed together.
Roll out the dough onto to about half an inch or a couple of centimetres and cut out the shapes of the biscuits that you would like.
Place the cut out dough into a greased over tray or pan or on foil and place in the oven at 180C for 12 minutes.
Photography London Hot Tip. Just so you know cause I made this mistake they don’t go hard in the oven and I ended up burning most of mine, 12-15 minutes is fine and they’ll go crunchy when they cool.
Happy Christmas
